Dr Claire’s Mobile Veterinary Service has RE-OPENED - update 5 May 2025
Dr Claire’s Mobile Veterinary Service has officially reopened from 22 April, 2025. Dr Claire is available by appointment for wellness consultations, vaccinations, second opinions, management of chronic illnesses, home-based palliative care and home euthanasias for cats and dogs. Dr Claire may also be available for after hours emergencies. She is able to triage your pet over the phone and recommend appropriate action, even if she cannot see your pet herself.
The practice was closed since Dr Claire broke both her ankles on 13 March 2024, necessitating surgery, 12 weeks in hospital and 8 weeks of outpatient physiotherapy. This was a life-altering event for Dr Claire, and her rehabilitation is ongoing. As a result of her injuries, Dr Claire is no longer able to see aggressive animals, as she works without an assistant and now lacks the mobility to safely handle them.
For the time being the online booking system remains closed, and Dr Claire will be working part-time, with flexible hours to try and accommodate her patients’ needs. If your pet needs an appointment outside of the nominal opening hours listed on the website, please phone Dr Claire, as she may be able to your pet at a more suitable time for you.
If your pet requires veterinary care while this practice is closed, please contact your local veterinary practice, or one of the other mobile veterinary services if you require a house call. For after hours care for minor problems you can go to the Walk-in Centre at Belconnen, which is open every evening between 7pm and 10pm. For after hours emergencies please contact the Animal Referral Hospital at Piallago, or Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service at Gungahlin.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
